Artist statement by Maxine Alexander
My practice at present is about the changing nature of life, decay and impermanence. We are fragmented temporary beings made whole through our connections. The binding ties that we form the interlinking chains that connect us, to our families, blood lines. But also the friendships we forge and the bonds that give us strength. Interested in ideas around identity and memory. Working in metals, copper, steel and aluminium using natural processes atond annealing to alter the surface of the metal.
