I mainly work on landscapes in a traditional way, increasingly using glazing techniques rather than impasto. By using oils in this manner it is possible to get much richer depths of colour although it is a much slower process. My main aim is to produce my version of those landscapes which have had a strong impact on my visual and emotional senses, and in which the play of light and shade has a particularly strong influence.
I resigned from a senior managerial role in the City to re-train through the Open College of the Arts, supplemented by attending Summer Schools at both The Slade and Central St. Martin's Schools, and a short water colour course at the John Soanes Museum..
